Spb Kiosk Explorer is a web browser for vertical enterprise market
There is a tendency of Pocket PCs being used as special devices in a very restricted way with many functions disabled and with only one application executed - this is called kiosk mode. A lot of vertical market applications require kiosk mode. For example, it can disable all games and other entertainment programs on Pocket PC.

Spb Kiosk Explorer is Pocket Internet Explorer running in kiosk mode.

Who needs it
Spb Kiosk Explorer is an enterprise tool for Pocket PC based solutions with web interface. These can be either web solutions for wireless devices or local Pocket PC solutions that use Pocket Internet Explorer as interface.

If you do not want your employees to use Pocket PC for surfing web, playing games, or listening to MP3 music then you need Spb Kiosk Explorer. Spb Kiosk Explorer restricts user Internet access to necessary websites and does not allow to execute any program except Pocket Internet Explorer.

How it works
Initially, you get Spb Kiosk Explorer Builder, a desktop application that allows you to build Spb Kiosk Explorer packages with a custom default page, and the unlock and lock codes. You can customize whether to show the command bar or not and which buttons/menus to show.

Spb Kiosk Explorer works in full screen mode, which prevents switching to other applications using start menu or smart minimize button. It also allows to use additional screen area to enhance user interface. You can also customize Spb Kiosk Explorer to hide the command bar (menu + toolbar) if you do not need it - it will give you additional 26x240 pixels for your web application.

Spb Kiosk Explorer prevents switching to other applications using hardware buttons. After the device is reset it automatically starts Pocket Internet Explorer in kiosk mode. Many other methods (even not-so-evident ones) of closing your kiosk mode application or switching to another one are thoroughly examined and prevented.

Spb Kiosk Explorer has been used for more than a year on many different devices and it is proven that it cannot be switched off by users.

Spb Kiosk Explorer also solves the problem of automatic SIP pop-up in Pocket Enternet Explorer.

Kiosk mode can be switched off if you enter an unlock code using hardware buttons. Some Pocket PC devices do not have programmable hardware buttons that can be used for entering the unlock code. For these devices you can soft-reset your Pocket PC device twice in 2 minutes, then an unlock dialog appears where you can enter the code using stylus.

In Spb Kiosk Explorer Builder you can customize the following options before generating a new kiosk package:

Whether to disable context menu or not

You can build a deployment package with customized options once and deploy it to many devices.
